Conservation Commission · Meeting of June 23, 2026

Tyngsborough Conservation Commission splits 4-4 on a conditional approval for a failing 60-bedroom septic system, sending the matter to July 14. The deadlock came on a motion to issue a negative determination for the 15-18 Cannongate Road campus, conditioned on the Board of Health approving the same plan without changes; Patrick Mical, Bruce Schofield, Ed Smith, and Chair Ed Derby voted in favor while four members opposed, with one citing discomfort approving an unstamped plan. The system has been failing and is being pumped daily, according to engineer John Riley of Hancock Associates, who said the 60-bedroom design matches the 2020 repair plan.

In the meeting's longest item, the commission worked through outstanding peer-review comments from SWCA Environmental Consultants on the proposed Otis Woods seven-lot subdivision at 25 Ingalls Road, agreeing to require a professional wetland scientist to oversee a 2-to-1 wetland replication with three years of monitoring, but continued that hearing to July 14 as well after SWCA failed to respond to resubmitted plans for more than four weeks. At 11 Alden Street, a first-time lakefront homeowner was told to remove an unpermitted stone-dust boat ramp and restore the shoreline to lawn.
