Planning Board continues gas station canopy plan to September 17
Planning Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Tyngsborough Planning Board continues Mobil diesel canopy plan over truck safety concerns. Global Partners LP's application for a diesel fueling canopy and kiosk at 95 and 99 Westford Road was continued to September 17 after board members and two neighboring business owners raised alarms about tractor-trailers exiting onto private Industrial Way, near a daycare and dance studio. Civil engineer Connor Bailey said the canopy would queue about two trucks within 190 feet of the road; traffic engineer Jason Adams estimated up to 20 truck trips per hour.
TEC engineer David Nader read from MassDOT's design guide that the planned truck turn "is not preferred design practice due to the potential for conflicts associated with vehicle blind spots." Abutter Piran Sioshansi said "the wear and tear on the highway is equivalent of 10,000 cars, one truck." The board also released seven Olde Colony Hills subdivision lots unclaimed since the early 1990s and appointed Jeremy Baldwin, 5-0, to the Middlesex & Westford Road Strategic Visioning Committee.
