Sustainability Committee approves August minutes, plans fall events.

Sustainability Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026

TYNGSBOROUGH — Sustainability Committee approves prior minutes and advances fall environmental programming. The panel confirmed staffing for four events: a Health Fair on September 19 featuring heat pump enrollment and composting education, a Repair Cafe on October 24 at Town Hall, Zero Waste Day on November 7 at the DPW Parking Lot, and Holiday Lights Collection running through mid-January. Fiscal year 2026 tonnage data showed trash up 48 tons (2 percent) and recycling up 78 tons (9 percent), with 11.5 additional tons diverted; recycling costs now exceed trash tipping fees.

Vice Chair Kristen Keegan chaired the meeting in Chair Diana Keohane's absence; Keohane will brief the Select Board on year-over-year waste comparisons and the town's involvement in fall MassDEP contract renegotiation discussions.
