School Committee · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Tyngsborough Middle School's state accountability percentile climbed to 61 in the state's 2026 report, up from 37 in 2023. Superintendent Mike Woodlock and TMS administrators Merringer and Hook told the School Committee the gains came alongside a new "flex block" schedule, a vocabulary push led by literacy coach Katie Leahy, and districtwide drops in chronic absenteeism. Woodlock said the district's longtime hockey cooperative with Dracut has ended, with Tyngsborough joining a new five-school co-op hosted by Littleton, alongside Ayer Shirley, Bromfield and Parker Charter, practicing at the Groton School rink.
The committee approved its September 22 minutes 6-0 with one abstention and voted unanimously by roll call to enter executive session on a personnel matter. "By taking IXL out of the regular math class ... and putting it during flex block, we gain 12 hours of instruction in math and in advisory," Merringer said. Administrators also closed School Choice enrollment for the remainder of the year.
