Select Board · Meeting of October 19, 2026

Tyngsborough Select Board set a nonbinding $35.4 million cost cap for a combined police and fire headquarters at 100 Potash Hill Road, eight days before town meeting votes on the project. Town Manager Colin Loiselle presented a worst-case estimate of $47.4 million, which board members said "would never pass," prompting the board to vote 5-0 to limit future construction costs to $29 million on top of the $4.95 million acquisition price. "I texted Colin.

I said, I have opened the presentation. I closed the presentation. I threw my phone in the garbage," a member said of his reaction to the initial number.

The Finance Committee's recommendation on the $6.4 million acquisition warrant article shifted from 3-2 to 4-1 in favor after the cap vote. The board also approved a new liquor license for 386 Middlesex Road and a $132,000 contract with Kinsherf CPA for town accounting services.
