Select Board Sets Dec. 5 Vote on Public Safety Building
Select Board · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Tyngsborough sets Dec. 5 special election on $4.95 million public safety building. The Select Board voted 4-1 Monday to ask voters to approve a debt exclusion funding the purchase and design of 100 Potash Hill Road, the former Lowell General Hospital office building, as a combined fire and police headquarters. Member Konstantinos Kalabokis cast the lone dissenting vote, arguing the board should set a hard construction-cost ceiling before buying, citing Cohasset's multiyear renovation saga as a cautionary tale.
The board also suspended the Fire Station Building Committee, revoked Tremonte Pizzeria's liquor license over nonpayment of rent, approved a new all-alcohol license for the planned Hangout Bar and Grill, and voted to petition state utility regulators to waive National Grid's proposed $26 monthly fee for residents who opt out of smart meters. "Once they're on our house, they're on our house," resident Diane told the board.
