Tyngsborough High School fall sports begin Monday, and softball's home field just got dugout overhangs to show for it.

TYNGSBOROUGH -- Fall sports news and a youth hockey update on Tyngsborough's neighboring nonprofit league headline the week.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Fall sports "officially go underway" Monday, August 24th, Tyngsborough High School student representative Oliver Stanton told the School Committee at its August 18 meeting. Stanton said students with questions about schedules or practices should reach out to their coach or the athletic department.

Separately at that meeting, School Committee member Barrett Bushman gave a building update showing recent work on the high school's softball field. Crews installed overhangs on the softball dugouts over the summer, and the district has since completed landscaping and hydroseeding around the field. Bushman said the improvements were funded as part of the debt for the new middle school project, so they carried no additional cost to the district. School Committee Chair Ryan McLean said the field, once the new seeding grows in this fall, should be ready "for next softball season."

YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Nashoba Youth Hockey Association, which describes itself as "the recreational youth hockey program focused on teaching the sport of ice hockey to the youth of Westford, Littleton, Tyngsboro and surrounding areas," has registration open for the 2026-2027 season, according to the organization's website. The site also notes its Squirt 2 team were VHL champions. Its schedule lists several upcoming Girls U8/U10 games: against Norwood Nuggets U10 on September 12 at Stoneham Arena, against Fore River Selects U10 B on September 20 at O'Brien Rink, and against Franklin Flyers U10 on October 3 at Nashoba Valley Olympia.
