Tyngsborough Board of Health tables plan to shift septic consultant fees onto homeowners. Health Director Kerri Oun proposed a Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53G account so applicants, not the town, would directly cover Title V review costs charged by consultant Matt Waterman of Landtech, at $200 an hour, after the department's consulting budget was cut from $30,000 to $15,000 for fiscal 2027. Vice Chair Sheila Perrault and other members worried residents would be confused seeing itemized bills for the first time, with one member saying it's "almost like Town of Kingsborough now is forcing a resident to use this company." The board voted unanimously to table the measure for further review.
Oun also announced her retirement and said the state has banned kratom sales in Massachusetts through August 28, 2027, though inspectors found none sold locally.
