TYNGSBOROUGH — Fire Station Building Committee holds working session on building systems. The committee, represented by six members including Vice Chair Wesley Russell, met with architects and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants to discuss energy pathways for the new facility. CES noted that an all-electric design qualifies for MassSave rebates, while fossil fuels remain permissible under Massachusetts Code if the building can switch to electric; the town is not subject to stretch code requirements.
Vice Chair Russell requested clarification on cooking gas exceptions; CES will research. Committee members assigned action items including coordination with fire chiefs on training and emergency operations center needs, hydrant flow testing, and National Grid capacity verification.
